Harlem Globetrotter visits York Elementary

A member of the Harlem Globetrotters paid a special visit to York Elementary on Friday, Feb. 13 to show them a few moves and celebrate 100 years of the high-flying, trick shot specialist basketball team.
Zavian “Sky” Jackson brought the energy as he bounded into the York gym. He demonstrated some skills, helped a couple students spin a ball on one finger and walked five students through the “magic circle” of ball-handling tricks. More than just entertainment, Jackson shared powerful messages about teamwork, perseverance, respect and believing in yourself.
“It was such a meaningful experience for our students to see hard work and character in action,” said York Principal Shondra Fetter.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Globetrotters. They’re celebrating a century of inspiring crowds and bringing joy to people around the world. This visit to York was just one of many ways the team has reached out to communities over the years.
The Globetrotters’ 100 Year Tour will make a stop in Springfield, Mo. at Great Southern Bank Arena on March 26, 2026.
